From Coquitlam to the PGA Tour: Ewart wins Q-School

A 26-year-old golfer from Coquitlam, AJ Ewart, secured a PGA Tour card in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, on Sunday, December 14, 2025, after winning the final stage of the PGA Tour Q-School which ensures his eligibility for top-level professional events. Ewart finished the four-round tournament at the TPC Sawgrass Dye Valley course with a score of 14-under par, two strokes ahead of fellow Canadian Adam Svensson. The victory was the result of consistent rounds of 66, 67, 67, and 66. For his first-place finish, Ewart was awarded $50,000.

The event concluded with five players earning their PGA Tour cards for the 2026 season. The other golfers who secured their cards were Adam Svensson, Alejandro Tosti, and Marcelo Rozo, who all tied for second at 12-under par. The final spot was determined by a playoff, with Dylan Wu defeating Ben Silverman. A field of 176 golfers competed in the final stage of the qualifying tournament.

Ewart's path to the PGA Tour included a successful collegiate career at Barry University. While there, he won 14 tournaments, which was a school record previously held by Adam Svensson. In 2022, his junior year, he was given the Jack Nicklaus Award as the top golfer in NCAA Division II. He also won seven tournaments during that season, tying another school record.

Since becoming a professional in 2023, Ewart has played on the PGA Tour Americas, a developmental circuit. In 2024, he was the winner of the Elk Ridge Saskatchewan Open. His performance in 2025 on that tour included a runner-up finish at the Times Colonist Victoria Open, along with four top-10 finishes. He has also been a member of Team Canada. This accomplishment allows Ewart to bypass the Korn Ferry Tour, the typical next step for progression.
